Traxxas Jato 4X4 BL-2s: Check Bearings Before You Buy

Buying bearings for a Traxxas Jato 4X4 BL-2s? Start with the model number 90154-4, then check the parts you need. A matching vehicle name is only the first step.

This guide explains what to check before choosing a bearing kit. It does not confirm that a particular kit covers every bearing in your vehicle.

1. Confirm your exact Jato model

Look for 90154-4 on your manual or box label. Other Jato versions need their own checks. Do not choose parts from a similar name or vehicle picture alone.

Keep the manual and parts drawings nearby. They help you find the bearing locations and the sizes needed for each part of the vehicle. Our manual-finding guide explains where to start.

If you have changed the hubs, steering or other parts, check the instructions for those parts too. A kit listed for the original vehicle may not cover those changes.

2. Choose bearing covers for your driving conditions

Metal covers and rubber covers protect bearings in different ways. Metal-covered bearings are often chosen for cleaner running conditions. A metal cover should not be treated as a waterproof seal.

For dirt, mud or wet driving, check the bearing maker’s guidance about protection and care. Rubber-covered designs can offer more protection, but the cover design matters. The word “rubber” alone does not mean waterproof.

3. Check the kit details before ordering

Compare the individual listing with your model’s manual and parts drawings. Check:

The exact model: the name, number and version should match your vehicle.
The included sizes and quantities: check each bearing you need rather than assuming the kit covers everything.
The cover type: choose it for your use and the maker’s instructions.
The notes: look for parts or locations that are not included.

If a size differs between two sections of a listing, ask us to confirm it before ordering. Do not pick one measurement or assume the difference is harmless. A kit photo, spare-bearing claim or storage box does not prove what is included.

4. Follow the care and installation instructions

The Jato manual calls for regular checks for damage, wear and parts that do not move freely. Follow the vehicle and bearing instructions before removing, cleaning or replacing bearings. Never force a bearing into place.
